A new name, a new organization and a renewed vision mark the beginning of the festival’s next chapter — one that remains deeply rooted in its commitment to author-driven cinema, while opening up to new forms of experimentation and contemporary storytelling.
Originally founded under the artistic direction of Andrea Gatopoulos, the festival reaches its eighth edition with a fresh identity and a new organizational framework.
The artistic direction is now in the hands of Laura Catalano and Giorgio Calogero, while 8 Production – the film production company – takes the lead as producer and overall coordinator.
With a strong commitment to discovering bold and experimental filmmakers from all over the world, Ru-mòre — Cinema and Audiovisual Experimentation Festival presents competitions for fiction, documentaries, animation, immersive VR and screenplays.
One of the key innovations is a dedicated section for new technologies, embracing tools and languages such as artificial intelligence, expanded and virtual reality.
At the same time, the festival expands its engagement with the industry, offering a structured program for film professionals: a space for skill-sharing, project visibility and the creation of new collaborations.
The Festival aspires to leave a lasting cultural mark on the local landscape, building an active and inclusive community.
The eighth edition will take place in Rome’s San Lorenzo district, from April 14th to 18th, 2026, at Cinema Tibur.
The program will feature a curated selection of the finest national and international short films, with no genre restrictions, and a particular focus on daring, innovative, and experimental works—created by emerging voices and shaped through original cinematic languages.
The call for entries will open on July 7th, 2025, with a main submission deadline set for February 1st, 2026.
We look forward to seeing you soon and sharing this new chapter together.
