CALL IS NOW OPEN! – Ru-Mòre — Cinema and Audiovisual Experimentation Festival

Submissions are now officially open for the next edition of Ru-mòre – Cinema and Audiovisual Experimentation Festival 2026, organized by 8 Production under the artistic direction of Laura Catalano and Giorgio Calogero.
Previously known as Il Varco Film Festival & Screenplay, founded under the artistic direction of Andrea Gatopoulos, the festival reaches its eighth edition with a renewed identity.

It will take place in Rome from April 14 to 18, 2026, in the San Lorenzo district, with Cinema Tibur as the main venue.
Ru-mòre will select forty short films across four categories: national and international fiction, animation, and documentary — all characterized by a strong auteur vision, experimental language, and original storytelling.
A non-competitive section called Frequenze Medie will run in parallel, dedicated to works between 20 and 40 minutes in length.
In continuity with past editions, the festival renews its collaboration with Read My Script, the screenplay competition dedicated to short films and debut or sophomore works in fiction and documentary, both national and international.
Four finalists will be selected per category, for a total of sixteen projects.

To make this edition truly unique, we need new works, new perspectives — stories that speak to the present, to our emotions, and to who we are.If you have a new project, we can’t wait to see it!
Submissions are open from the publication of this call and will close on February 1st, 2026. You can apply through FilmFreeway.
